Fractional CRO

I’m interviewing at a series B startup. Comp, territory, product, quota attainment all look good. The only thing is I’ll be reporting to a fractional CRO.

Does this ever work out?

I've seen it work out quite well. You need someone to set direction. Personally, I would prefer someone full time, but this isn't a terrible option.

It could be very beneficial, especially with the current state of the economy.

nah your good. It was a series A start up and the CRO was told to us to be "fractional" and that meant he worked part time with the CEO and then had other businesses he ran.

so we barely saw the guy (which isnt terrible but didnt help)

I felt like he did not have a good pulse for what was happening at the org and he and the CEO never really seemed to be on the same page.

this may have been just a bad fit and not a result of the "fractional" aspect. but thats been my only experience.

First time that I am reading this term "Fractional CRO". But generic advice:

To see if it will ever work out, you probably would want to give it a chance and see. Unbiased. Uncoloured opinion.

Depends on the direction the CRO will set, and how much time they can dedicate to the role, I suppose.

No idea if it's going to be good or bad in reality, but if all other indicators are green, it might be ok.

I've had a fractional CMO.

But this could be good if you don't want a lot of micro managing and are very driven/a self starter.

Fractional OS (https://www.fractionalos.com/) is a great guide to Fractional Work that shares how to plan your Go To Market, Self Marketing, and Pricing. I found it really useful to get started. The creator Javi Ramirez is a Fractional CRO who's really active in the space.
