Managers making decisions like this make weak salespeople. They need to trust their reps to do it well. And then coach if they donโ€™t.

Still no green light! Complete rewrite (not at matching my style) and albeit good, not something I would have sent.
Bottom line - I obviously will have to send whatever they want me to send. The question is whether I need to voice for the record that I don't agree with this style or just say thanks and blame them if it doesn't work out ( thinking that the latter is after)

The sad thing is that it isn't even about the proposal, its about EGO at this point.ย  Any leader worth a shit, and not on a power rush would have prioritized what's best for the prospect/client and the proposal would have been delivered already.ย ย

Not at all! It was a rewording of a price proposal (after the demo is done). No deadline.ย
Main issue here is serious lack of trust.ย

Depends on the timeframe and strategic importance.ย

If its a must win, then yes it's worth spending the extra time on.ย

If it's a tick box exercise then fire and forget.ย

At this point, I am willing to bet that the delay cost me this deal. If I was a client and didn't get the pricing within 24 hours, as promised, I would be like: "fuck these guys, thier service will look like this too= a hot delayed mess".ย

Fair point. If you're in competition and you break your word. Bad look.ย

Waiting is the worst - but if you win the proposal, it won't seem like that much of a big deal to have had to wait to get it right.

True, IF we win. The way I look at it, no matter what I do - I am not getting the win. I will have to change to what they want, so bye bye my own opinion and expertise.ย

If we win- they will say it's because of that one word they changed last minute.

Thank you.

ย So far it's 50/50 votes. I should have added an option with comments, just to understand what on earth do people think "perfect" is?!

No such thing. Although, there is such a thing as shitty and that is something to avoid.

I mean this simply cannot be more accurate.ย

Iโ€™ve never seen a perfect proposal but has seen so many god awful ones that certainly fucked up a deal.ย

If itโ€™s something that will take away from your commission, then wait. otherwise, just send it.

In future just have the beer or two and then see why your fingers type to get them to get a move on. Itโ€™s a fun game.

You are not going to believe it, but the proposal is still debated. NOT an enterprise deal!ย

It's taken a long time, and is still an ongoing battle, to stop striving for 'perfect'.

Regardless, shitty situation.

At this point I would wait until Monday. Once it get to be that point in time the prospect will most likely not see it until Monday morning either.ย

An update - one of my managers (the more senior one) wrote back with corrections and man, it was worth waiting for. Absolute gorgeous writing, much better than my original version.ย
Now let's hope the delay to write a master piece didn't cost me to lose the deal.

Truly great suggestions though, I must admit.ย
