Everyday: "Today is the best day to close deals" with forced smile and peppiness.

Um....dick...what day do you think I don't like money?

Chose linkedin answer b/c would literally be terrible at least I can silently ignore the rest as old school tough love 80s management. Posting everything on LI just means you have a manager that shouldn't be working outside of washing dishes and unpaid interns at that.

Yeah its the thought that EVERY objection is something that you can over come. "never take no for an answer" is a GREAT way to piss people off.

Probably the one I should have picked. The assumption that every deal is winnable...

well, maybe, but do you really want a BAD deal?

"Just close more deals" might be the most non-advice statement ever, but I swear some managers legitimately think this helps their reps

I have been at plan and been let go before. It shocked me cause I have always been told "be at quota and your job is safe".

I'm good at sales, but suck at officepolitics.

Boss’s boss once told me “offer them a discount so they’ll buy today.“
I’m like “we’re coordinating with 29 other divisions on a building that isn’t built yet. It’s a more complicated sale than that.”

He let it go. He came from ADT residential, so he wasn’t used to the commercial space. He also tended to only care about numbers.

Any talk about needing to hit quota to have job safety, will cause me to start looking. Even when I am above quota, I HATE the idea of threatening someone's livelihood so a managers team number looks good.

"Go find deals" "Create urgency" "Discount to bring in revenue"

IMO if you're discounting heavily, your company either priced the product too high (meaning they don't understand the market) or you don't think your product is good (which brings a litany of other issues, to which I say find something you do believe in)

down voters are marketing spies
Never take "no"... My worst. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense, it's a crap lead, forced call etc.

It's like trying to sell a peleton in 2022

Focus on finding the solution - no doubt that it is a golden advice BUT whatif you have no control

Heck ya... But not in my control ... What will happen even if I find a solution for you... The other managers needs to sort out the issues...

I am in staffing sales and our challenge is our so called robust Recruitment team
