Fucking Tired of Posting on LinkedIn and Being a Wanna Be Influencer

Im sure you all have seen or heard about "personal branding"

I did a lot of content posting on LinkedIn, decent post too, not just an image of a shitty quote.

There are many reasons to trying be a wanna be influencer, and that is to sell shit, whether is a crappy course or whatever.

I used it for building trust to my potential prospect. I also wanted to get attention from sales manager so they can offer me a job hah.

But I am tired of trying to post 5 days a week and coming up with content.

You guys do "personal branding"

I know this isn't the "vibe" of this post, but here's my 1.5 cents on this:

Posting on LinkedIn can be extremely helpful if your target audience is also active on LinkedIn. Who does this apply to? If you sell to:

- Recruiters / HR
- Marketers
- Sales leaders
- CEOs / Founders (especially early stage)

There's a decent shot you can get some real value out of building a following on LNKD. The other thing that can be valuable is if you're looking for a job. Sales leaders are always trying to hire off LNKD, so that's a good way to get on the radar of a company you wanna land a gig at.

But if you aren't job hunting and you sell to anyone outside of the 4 functions above, you are wasting your time. Go cold call, email, or throw an industry networking event instead.

Good points my man, it is mainly for job hunting. I just get stuck on what else I can post that hasn't already been out there.ย

You don't need to post. Just find the VP Sales' of companies you wanna work at and engage with their content. Write thoughtful responses that make them go "this sam guy is sharp, i should hire him."

A quick build on this: @sahilย is right. Make it about them, not about the content you push out as much as it as about them seeing you. Sometimes achieving that is easier if you engage with them first through their content. Just make certain your profile communicates something like what Sahil suggests. If it's incomplete, or if there's something that's too much (or just not there), do spend some time building it up. That works better for me anyway!

Are your prospects active on linkedin? Are you trying to become an industry expert/go-to person for these people within a few years? Depends on your long-term goals.
Can be very hit or miss and it will be a grind full.

My goal all goal was to get sales manager's attention and get hired. I have gotten a few interviews because of it.ย

I do.

I subscribe to 3-5 different industry news letters that are pretty good so when I find an interesting article while I'm drinking my morning coffee I share it. My company also has a bank of pre-built posts, and a fuck ton of content that can be easily shared. They ask that we post, but it isn't required. I've gotten into the habit of posting 2-3 times a week.

I've gotten some recognition and meetings generated out of it. No deals....yet.

Do you just post the article or do you add some comments as well?

I have no brand to build. I only post when I have a speaking engagement. So thatโ€™s like twice a year. Otherwise I just reply to peopleโ€™s comments. Itโ€™s more enjoyable to chime into discussions than to post, โ€œTODAY I WASโ€ฆโ€

Oh I'm starting to work for a new company and I'm telling them all to unfollow me in LinkedIn - I'm gonna be posting waaay too often soon and start to be as annoying as a Gong rep for a while, to see if it's actually worth the investmentย
