Fully remote, back in the office, or a mix of both?

The time has come where more and more companies will be answering this question.

Personally, I prefer a mix- I do miss office culture, but have really enjoyed that WFH lyfe

It will also be interesting to see how this changes things like commercial real estate and downtown landscapes in general. Companies scaling down their office spaces or getting rid of them all together etc. Will this open up space at a cheaper price for small operations? Or will it all just shift and nothing will really change?

What do you think?

I would like a hybrid - 3 days home. 2 office. I don’t care for office life anymore. Commute times. Politics. Etc. But do miss the social side

I would agree with this as well. As much as I love being on the sales floor, it's hard to justify "needing" to be in the office full time after the past year.

Mix, so you can still have free coffees at the office and complain about your day in real life

I like a mix. Working from home should be an option when weather is bad/you're not feeling 100% health wise but can still do some work/you're waiting for a delivery or repair, or when you just need a break from people and the office. I do think in person interaction is important though. Much tougher to build a strong team dynamic and culture when everyone is remote.

Also, at my company I'll often chat with a co worker/my boss for a few min in the lunch room or walking by their office and come out with some new knowledge and perspective...you don't get that with remote work.

It would be cool to see Monday and Friday as work from home optional days with everyone in the office Tues-Thurs.

A mix of both. My company is all about flexibility, so employees decide if they want to go to the office or not.

Flexibility is key! I try to also combine crying and laughing into each day as well.

Hybrid is more my speed and my company has accommodated accordingly with some of our kids virtual learning from school and less in person meeting with clients. Our business park is definitely operating at maybe 30% from pre-pandemic times; a year into this thing I don't see that changing anytime soon and I've often wondered what will happen with commercial real estate. Lots of lease signs up at this point.

Fully remote, with company meetings each quarter, and the ability to see clients/prospects! I am far more productive at home with fewer distractions!

Used to be fully remote. Now I'm required to be in the office 3 days per week, which really just seems silly since I sit at my desk all day to do my work, so I really don't see that it matters which desk I sit at. I mean my boss often does our joint calls from his own private office even though we are required to be in the office... baffling!

I have heard similar things from my team, some people absolutely love it and some find it really challenging. Hang in there though, we are almost at the end!

Because of the nature of the industry I'm involved with and the type of customers I serve it doesn't make any sense for us to go back to the office. Personally I would be happy if given the option to go to our offices at least once a week, to keep that personal closeness to my colleagues.

I always thought that I couldn't be productive as a remote worker, but during this past year I've been extremely productive in all aspects, prospecting, closing, and even it has given me time to become an informal mentor to some of my peers.

I feel like I'm more productive in the office-- but I also vacillate depending on the time of quarter. I'd probably choose a mix that favors more time in the office, but I think dictating the balance on a weekly basis doesn't make too much sense.

I got a new job in December. Full time remote. With my previous company, they had us coming in 1 day a week starting in september. Still wasnt bad. As long as your company supports you working remotely, I'm all for it. A second monitor is a must for me.

I leveraged COVID to make a move to a different state a couple of months into quarantine. My company wasn't thrilled since they want reps back in office once things go back to normal but didn't want to lose me. Prefer it much better than commuting to the office. When things go back to normal they'll fly me out and put me up in corporate apartments for 2 weeks every quarter to get that in-office team dynamic. Win-win in my book

Fully remote for a while now. At this point I’m never going back to an office.

if you have the space and quiet roommates (or kids), being remote is a game changer.

Fully remote, with an option to go into the office anytime you’d like. The 1.5-2hrs I get back from not commuting 5 days a week is just too precious to lose.

Thus your comment on commercial real estate. If more companies adopted this model (fully remote with option to come in), then I could see businesses such as WeWork find success in helping scale down office spaces and provide a different approach than the current status quo for hybrid wfh/office.

I enjoy WFH! I feel like i'm in control of my own work hours, more money is being saved, and I think we all enjoy the consistency of wearing sweats to the "kitchen office" lol. The biggest thing I miss is being able to travel for work and be customer facing.

WFH.

I also think travel to customer meetings should be mission critical only. CFO's don't want travel back.

I would argue this is not only different team to team, but individual to individual. Which is why I have been a big fan of the mixed model. People who want to be in the office 5 days a week can and others can mix it up

Fully remote no question! Would I go to an office once a quarter to do a big gathering - sure, but I certainly don't want to be in an office working every day ever again.

I am much more productive working at home. Call me your A-typical sales person but the blasting music on the sales floor does not help me sling deals. I much prefer working at home In quiet so I can fully concentrate. Do I miss the free lunches and snacks, sure but do I miss commuting and wearing jeans, certainly not.

I've tasted freedom and will never go back
