G2 badges💁🏽

Just got an email from marketing that we received 20+ badges for Spring and we gotta update signatures, LI cover picture and what not.

First time we got a bunch of badges, I was excited. After a year now, I know pretty much every decent company in a particular vertical is getting a handful of these. Meh

So G2 gives out badges to companies/software’s every summer, winter, spring and fall based on reviews they receive, number of unique visitors and a bunch of stuff. Some badges we received are momentum leader, high performer mid market, easiest set up, easiest to do business with, so on! It’s like Bollywood awards season here in India. Everyone takes an award home😂

G2 is for the most part pay to play garbage. They are a good place to house positive customer reviews though. A lot of buyers love reviews, so keeping them flowing is a good thing. The rest of G2s offerings are pretty much garbage time

I think it's great if your company is the top-ranked in their sector, but other than that the badges are meh

Honestly we get these all the time and it doesn't really mean much when all the competitors in the space can boast about getting G2 awards too

I echo that these are only really relevant if you're number 1. If you're not, it helps to filter down by vertical or business size if there is a particular niche in which you do well.

g2 is a bunch of bs, sure - I agree with everyone else... but what is marketing? who doesn't have a bunch of big name logos and badges on their website? it's all part of the game!

I've seen all the hubbub about this on linkedin ect. I think it's less about offending people but more the psychological aspects of the question. I think what they're getting at is when you frame it as 'does this make sense?' The recipient is more apt to say yes because they don't want to admit that it might have been over their head or they need it broken down further (Barney style lol). I've thought a lot about it and although I have no idea what the data is or if there is any data behind it, I'm all for shifting the context of the question and making it about my ability to explain something.

I’ve never run into any issues saying this. Most people understand that its just to confirm alignment and isn’t meant to be condescending.
