Gamblers out there?

My sales team is full of a bunch of degenerate gamblers and we have an incredible group text going for essentially every sporting event you can imagine (discussing lines, tips, bouncing ideas).

What still doesn't make sense to me, I get more joy out of hitting a $200 parlay than I do clearing $20k in commission. Anyone else feel the same?! Something about "free money" just gets me going...

It just became legal in my state to sports bet from a mobile app...It's wild, but need to be very careful that it doesn't get out of control!

I had a friend ruining his financial live during college. Maybe that’s why I do not like it.

Nailing the commission is part of your job, your work at it day in and day out, there's more of a logical process to it... nailing that parlay, is different, it's like you saw something / knew something that no one else did, and you feel like a fucking genius for doing so haha.... It's why we always talk about our wins and never our losses when it comes it comes to gambling haha.

Plus the high of getting it right is addictive as fuuuuuuck

In the UK we can bet from a lot of different apps and it does come quite addictive until you never really win haha

I was an avid gambler for a very long time. I would often question myself why do I have more joy in fighting back from a down week where if I turned my efforts towards bettering my work or finding a second job. In the end, it's a part of realizing what's important in life and knowing what is more important. Easier said than done though, I will admit was hard to walk away for awhile.

I used to gamble a lot when I ask a kid, way younger than I should have. For me it was the thrill of the odds, in gambiling you either don't have enough information all the time to make the best educated guess or you have the odds against you.

In sales, you have a list of things that are proven to be help your odds. So the thrill is less when you get qouta or win a bet, even if the stakes are higher!

I love the commission more probably since I couldn't hit a parlay to save my life. That being said, love the rush of gambling and seeing a spicy bet pay off.

I do really small gambles just for the fun of it. Like $5-$10 bets or $1 parlays just for the fun of it. Most of my money goes into stocks/retirement funds
