AE Headaches and how to get around them

Im a BDR for multiple AE's ever since I was given a new opportunity I've completely cut out one AE who is impossible to work with. The guy doesn't put in any effort on his end never replies when I try to follow up on prospects, and cant close. anyone else deal with meathead AE's like this? What are some of the things you do to get around working with them?

My advice is no matter how much someone sucks ass, telling them off NEVER works in your favor. Even in the "anonymous" exit interview when you leave. Don't burn bridges, it will always come back to haunt you somehow. Most of the time everyone else also knows they suck, it doesn't need to be said.ย

Just focus on you and keep crushing it. And welcome to the WR!!

Try having a one on one meeting with him to discuss a move forward strategy.

Also, copy your manager and his on emails when you have next steps and follow up. Start the paper trail.

Piggy backing on this, in a 1:1 setting with them, be honest about what you want out of this partnership (obviously the answer is probably to book a fuck ton of meetings and make money) because it'll level set the playing field and they might not even know their actions are affecting your performance as well. I'd also ask them how you can best set them up for success- it'll make them feel heard and then they may have motivation to do better to help you out in return as well.

So I'm in a similar situation. Just this morning one AE I reached out to was gone for two hours when I needed to book a demo. I called him multiple times on phone and via slack. Turns out the dude was working out. I love the gym just as much as the next guy, but never during work hours. It was time sensitive, so I passed on the opp to another AE. Told him he gets the next one. Obviously said this in a respectful way. Like others said, don't burn bridges.ย

Let it be, you're on to better things. He's going to be the one struggling to do his job and make quota. Learn from his mistakes and take solace in the fact you don't have to work with him much longer.

How to get out of jury duty as an AE?

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
