Geo based?

Whatsup my fellow savages-

My company is moving our team to Geo based assignments by 2h of '22. Initial roll out looks to be east vs west until they drill down territories. Mainly hunting new biz but will get accounts apparently(not sure how good or any spend). Ideal buyer for us is in that SME, but we do lot of work with MSP's which helps raise run rate through a given quarter FYI + their trying to drive partner engagment more.

Having mixed feelings on this. Any personal opinions on going geo-based and how a transition played out? Do I run for the hills? Should I negotiate territories I want and if so, any ideas how to map which ones would be ideal? Open to all opinions here.

Gracias-

Geo based enables good account planning and an easy divide on accounts without shenanigans that can be played with revenue or verticals. It can work very well. I’ve been geo-based most of my career. When trying to figure out where to land, you can look at historically where you’ve been successful, and go for a region with those accounts. For example, if you are successful with oil & gas, you’ll want Texas and Alberta as your core.

Good looks on the request. I was Mid Market 100-1k which was not supported well but they moved the strikezone to SME so i work employees 0-250 now. Deal pirates will always be out haha. thanks for the advice though.

I prefer some type of structure, and geo is typically fairest for everyone. As @Sunbunny31 said do stuff research and try to pick the best one.

I've been geo based and the overall concept is great. Are you going by zip codes?

GEO based alignments are legit. Most companies are that way so if you're partner driven in any way that'll help, plus in a couple years you'll reap the rewards of working the territory.

Does the company you work for begin with an "I"?
