Get Fired, Don't Quit

Seen a few post recently regarding "Should I stay or Should I go"

Honestly, I have been in a few of these types of situations, and pending something like physical or mental abuse, I see no value in leaving a company before you have something else lined up, and even then it might be worth seeing if you can tackle both roles at once 0.o Keep the role and look for something in the interim.

Left my 10 yrs in healthcare sales right before the EOY promotion because I wasn't happy, they stiffed me on the promotion

Left my data sales job because I felt I was "Holding the company back"

Left my VP role because I saw the company was heading in the wrong direction, (still unemployed)

Moral of the story is, to look out for yourself first always.

Exactly, at my 4th job right now, never gave my notice before securing the next one. I just donโ€™t see any other way as a smart move, except if you have some serious stash on the side :)

Precisely, I did once and learned. Make them pay you severance and feel the pain of telling you, donโ€™t make it easy on the company by leaving

As much as I want to quit my org due to its dysfunction, I'm pragmatic enough to know the consequences of having your health insurance tied your employer and being sol after.

It's hard not to be ambivalent about all this with the downturn, but I remind myself I've been through much worse and there are far worse positions to be in. Nevertheless, having multiple backups, applying for other jobs and building a personal brand are the top of my agenda for this quarter should quota be completely unobtainable.

i would absolutely NEVER leave a job without a signed offer letter for my next role in hand.

i feel like most ppl that post "should i stay or go" are under the impression that if they leave, it will be when they have a job lined up.

This is correct, get fired donโ€™t be proud and leave. There isnโ€™t a single salesperson out there who hasnโ€™t been fired.

I agree, I donโ€™t know why anyone would a job prior to securing a new one unless money is simply not, and never will be, an issue.

Thanks for sharing! Iโ€™m in the same position as many, and holding strong until things work out at my current org, or until I get a dream offer. Stay strong - the world NEEDS salespeople. Youโ€™ll find something.
