Get me the fuck out of lighting!

i want to work fully remote and it seems like SaaS is the only option for that. however getting a $100,000 base with 0 SaaS experience seems impossible. thoughts?

Might not be the best time due to what @Linksaid, you'll probably have to set your sights on a position with a lower base, but solid OTE.

You can ramp quickly in SaaS if you're good, and fully remote is a Godsend.

I do basically all my own lead generation and qualifying as well as closing so I’m intimately familiar with the entire sales process just not in SaaS

Right now the market is really hot with layoffs, there’s no shortage sales people.
My experience was lots of lowball offers @ base, but that being said it also depends upon the position.

How much experience do you have in sales?
Is your role considered an AE role? Assuming it’s a closing role—what’s avg deal size?
Do you currently have a 100k base?
What are your OTE expectations?

Sales skills are super translatable, anyone can learn about a product but the skills are what it takes to actually be a good salesperson.

I have a year in sales but many years in upselling goods and services in the lighting industry. My role is a crazy combination of all of those roles in SaaS, BDR, SDR, AE, and AM. Average deal is probably $40,000. Largest deals are around $200,000. I’m new ish to an agency so I’m on a draw but basically it’s a $100k until I make enough commission to go over that. I’m just trying to get $100 base but $150-200 OTE is probably ideal. But honestly $120 would be fine rn.

Adjust your resume to portray yourself as an AE, Be straight forward and to the point:

-quota & attainment
-ACV 40-200K
-smb, enterprise, mm?
-presidents club, top 2-5%, employee OTM?
-notable deals?
-KPIS
-*maybe something here about how you do all your own lead gen to full cycle*

Get to interviewing, and sell yourself as an AE

@Link you have this spot on! Just boost it. Show your accomplishments and be proud about them. Show off why you are valuable.

one thing that might be worth noting, in SaaS AE roles are typically 50/50 base/variable split on OTE. so if you want a $100k base, you’ll likely need a $200k OTE

you will have a hard time getting a $100k+ base in saas with no saas experience.

I hate to say it but its true.
Its not impossible but it will be super hard. especially now

You should realign priorities here. The job market is tightening and likely going to continue to do so. If you have no experience, you should focus on getting that so that you’re worth that amount to a prospective employer first.

So you’re saying take a cut to make the jump and get the experience?

Yes, I moved from financial sales making about 100k 3 years ago to SaaS and took a 25% year one cut for an SDR role. I ended up overachieving and making about the same amount by busting my ass. Year 2 was a good increase, but year 3 (and this year) put me at about 250k and I should be moving out of commercial towards enterprise shortly which is another jump. Take the leap of faith for a decent company and make it work.

Hate to be that guy but in this market, you will be the first one cut.
