Getting a Bad Manager

Another huge re-org with the company just happened and I just found out I will have a shitty manager. Basically a couple months back, I was trying to change my role to be on the Account Management side. The only role open was with the shitty manager, so I decided to wait a couple months until another one opened up. Luckily one did an I am now an AM which has been great.

Now this re-org happened and I am pissed. I am now with the manager I tried to avoid. everyone has told me the manager sucks (8 people of slacked me), but I dont want to look externally b/c looking for a job isnt the easiest right now.

I really like the company/role/pay but this new manager I have a feeling like it will make my work life balance shitty.

Outside of going to the Academy of dealing with a shitty manager, is it possible to fight the re-org? Or is the only option to look externally or deal with it?

Give it a shot and document everything. Then take their job.

That sucks... Probably not much you can do though.

I'm going to agree with everyone saying CYA/document.

Document. Everything. Literally everything.

I’ve never been good at asking for another direct supervisor but usually going above that person is the only way which sucks but…sometimes ya gotta do it.

It was a big re-org, would it be Director/VP of the old team or the boss of the shitty boss

Make sure to have everything in writing. From confirming via email to writing up the meeting you just had. They will either love it and not realize what’s happening or realize that you have them and be forced to not be a dick to you.

But also, play to this knowledge and make them your best friend. If this manager is so shitty, and everyone knows it, why are they still at the company?
Use this to your advantage.

That sucks, and I'm sorry.

What makes this manager particularly bad?

Do your best. However, document everything for when it comes to a clash

2/3 of team left because of a bad manager - do I just leave too?
