Getting a new Boss- same company

My boss got promoted and hasnt really done much for me the 3 years ive reported to him, but i like him and he leaves me alone to do my business. He dropped the bomb today that with his promotion he has too many directs and is putting me under someone else, no idea who yet, he doesnt even know.

Problem is, this has happened 3x in my past and all 3x it was absolute shit and i ended up leaving. I am a top producer and hopefully its an internal person that i know, but im pissed off and need help off the ledge.

Someone tell me it is ok, or share a story unlike my 3 other time manager switch that ended in a diaper wrapped in burnt hair smelling like bigfoots di$k.

wait to see what happens. Expect the worst, get the worst. Expect the best, you get where I am going.

Change your outlook on it.

You are gonna be ok. Have any vacation time you can take over the holidays? May help you reset.

im like 100k away from my number, 2 4 day weekends thought with christmas and new years ill attempt to get my head right. Again he doesnt do much from a management perspective i am self sufficient but he leaves me alone which i love, i dont want the opposite of this

You may get lucky and end up with the best manager you ever had. There isnโ€™t anything to be gained by getting worked up just yet, despite your previous experience. Enjoy your holiday, and hopefully youโ€™ll end up with a good manager and have a fantastic year next year.

Totally normal! I noticed your comment about being left alone - I thought that's what I wanted too until I got a very collaborative, hands on manager, and blew out my number. Not all hands-on managers are micromanaging stress balls.

Happened to me lately and had the same feeling like yours but my new manager is damn cool too and adds more value than the previous one. You are just fine - relax, cool down, give it sometime!

Just wait and see what happens, then make a decision. Can't freak out based on past experiences

Ahhh, that sucks. Especially because you already knew how things rolled with your previous manager.

It's happened to me once but I was new and had only been with that manager about 3 weeks, the next manager ended up being exactly as you describe your current one: Kinda useless in offering support but allows you to do whatever tf you want as long as you hit or are close to quota.

Another time i had to leave what was a great company overall because of a shitty manager and the motherfucker ended up leaving 3 months after... had I known i would've just held on a bit longer.

Point is... you don't know what you might get, it can be a positive change, especially because it is not like you had the best manager, it was just decent, so, it might end up working out.

Regardless, enjoy the holidays and come back ready to deal with whatever is thrown at you!
