Getting job at Google

For those who’ve recently landed (or are currently in) AE roles at Google -what worked for you?

Especially curious to hear from anyone who’s navigated the process in the past few months or years.

I’ve had direct referrals for AE roles (on different teams) and still didn’t get an offer, although I completed all stages. There hasn’t been any specific feedback from the recruiters.

What would you recommend doing differently? Any insights or strategies that helped you stand out and secure the job?

Appreciate any advice in advance!

It’s tough to tell you what to do differently if we don’t know what you’re doing that isn’t working. Maybe leaving out too much context?

Hopefully his interview approach is different.

Google is quite a beast, and hard to break into.

Unfortunately, if it's not happening with multiple direct referrals and feedback isn't being given, there's likely not much we can do.

Applied with a referral, worked with the recruiter through every step, and prepped with folks who referred me at Google for each interview. Made it through all the rounds but got rejected. Feedback was to reflect on how I answered the questions.

These big tech companies can be a real bear to break into.
Where are your direct referrals coming from? Other AEs, or higher up the chain?
Another thought is that there are often hiring freezes, and they are unlikely to tell you about those.

Most referrals were coming from current AEs…

Yeah, not high enough up the chain to provide leverage, unfortunately.
