Getting kids involved

Lots of posts about how we all got into sales but how can we get kids involved in doing things that can set them up for potential sales careers in the future?

I remember doing lemonade stands or selling Girl Scout cookies when I was younger... Are those still a thing?

Do any WR parents see their kids being rock star sellers one day and encourage them starting at a young age?

I teach my kids how to negotiate. Sometimes it backfires and they try to negotiate with me in situations that are non-negotiable (brushing their teeth, etc). I believe negotiation is a useful skill for many situations in life and can certainly push our kids into a successful sales career!

Any tips on how you teach them that skill?

Can def see how it would annoying as hell, especially if they're good at it!

I always listen to their pitch and evaluate both sides (what they win and what we as parents win). If they offer a legitimate win/win scenario for all involved parties, then I will usually go with it! This provides them with positive reinforcement and teaches them to duplicate their successful efforts in the future. It i's not a good idea then I will usually provide an example of what I was looking for and move on / remind them of what they did in the past that worked and then give them another crack at it๐Ÿ˜

Wow you sound like a fun parent!! I love that, also teaches them that you don't know until you ask which is a straight up skill in sales.

I would focus on skills, not sales itself.ย

teach them the power of listening, being curious, being creative when looking for a solutionย

WFH made us appreciate quiet. You're fun, you just work with people who have muted social skills, lol
