Getting let go Friday or Monday. What do I take with me?

Got the heads up from my RVP that their boss made the decision to let me go (RVP doesn't agree but it's not up to them). Any recommendations on what to take with me?

Letter of recommendation from rvp?

Trying to scrape data when you're about to be let go will only harm you in the long term. Likely to get you let go earlier or not get a good reference.

Agreed - do NOT scrape data. It will not end well.

do you think you will find your next role in the same industry? if so, might not be a bad idea to take some account notes with you. dont print this or anything just write it all down.

also, make sure you have access to your commission statements. This could be helpful in the future to prove that you hit or exceeded quota, and also remind you what you did in the past. These you SHOULD print out.

Keep tabs on ppl you have made connections with there. when people leave seeing where they go and what they accomplish is a really important thing. you never know when you will be able to help them or they help you.

Anything that's yours personally. Forward commission info, your signed comp plan, etc., to your personal email, but nothing else.

Good comment about writing some important info down, but do not attempt a data dump - that is a huge breach and could cause legal issues as well as make it more difficult for you to land a new role.

Depends on whether you want to leave in a blaze of glory or on good terms. Last in office job I left I took everything in sight LOL.

Take it all.

Don't do some huge copy/paste it dropbox upload, nothing that can be recorded.

But you've built relationships. You own those. Keep the contacts, and be very smart about using them.

Many job postings say "want person with extensive contacts in (place) or (vertical)." While that's a dumb hiring criteria, many old school HR places put it in the post, so keep your ability to stay in contact that have value and know you're valuable.

Also keep anything you've written and created but can easily be repurposed. Save yourself creating scripting and copy from scratch

Whateverโ€™s not nailed down and stay connected with your RVP. See if heโ€™s willing to reach out to anyone in his network to help out. Sounds like he likes you and might feel guilty enough to put some feelers out there.
