Ghosted by a fellow sales savage

One of my new accounts has been getting super into our software & has been inviting new team members left and right to test out the tool. I usually only work with people in the marketing department from the client side but in this case, the client wanted to invite one of their AEs to the account. Once they're in the account, they have the option to book a training session with me to learn more about the tool. The AE booked a call with me for this afternoon & then ghosted me...

As someone who is in sales and gets ghosted on a weekly basis, I personally don't think I could knowingly ghost someone. Maybe I'm being dramatic, who knows. Anyways, how salty should I be about this?

How salty should I be?

As you don't know what happened, I'd be a bit salty but not over the top. This is a rotten week to plan anything - I have ONE meeting tomorrow and then I'm polishing silverware for Thursday's meal. It's possible that something came up, or they just forgot, which bites, but happens.

I went through this thought process as well and tried to give some slack. BUT (there's always a but), with our tool, we can see when users are online and in the platform. The guy was literally online during our meeting.

I do agree with you though, bad week to plan anything! Crossing fingers and toes for a reschedule lol

Oh ho - yeah, busted.

Hope he gets back to you with at least an apology. Who knows, maybe his family called and he had some last minute things he needed to take care of.

Sales Rep
Was it today? Right before a long weekend calendars get crazy with meetings and doing a weeks worth of KPIs in 3 days. If the rep doesn’t respond tomorrow I would be salty unless they are OOO

Yess I do know the timing wasn't great! But the call was also scheduled yesterday for yesterday, so it was a same day ghosting. We'll see if I can get a response out of them

No excuses, I’d be pissed! Common courtesy must exist amongst savages, otherwise we have nothing…

Meh, shit happens. Reach out and touch base on what happened and go from there. If they did it on purpose, then sure, be salty like the dead sea and I’m sure that’s how it made you feel inside.

Definitely a bit salty. It's so easy to not ghost someone. Takes 20 seconds to send an email

This is always my thought process. 20 seconds to send an email, 5 seconds to decline the invite

Exactly. No excuse for ghosting. Extremely unprofessional and ignorant

Blow it up
NGL I will 100% blow off a potential vendor if one of my important customers calls me right before the meeting.

Fires gotta be put out.

Agreed - This is a valid reason! But then after the call, maybe send out a note to the meeting you skipped letting them know why

Exactly, and reschedule that meeting as soon as possible.

I often go out of my way to make life easier for other AEs and love helping out green SDRs. This would have been irritating

Not optimal, but it happens. Especially around now.

You've got the right be a little salty but don't let it get to you.

Sales gets busy. It's Q4. I'd give the benefit of the doubt until they ghost you twice

They probably had a client call come up that they couldn’t pass on. That’s always going to come first, but they should have let you know they couldn’t make their call with you.
