When I send cold emails, I try to avoid ANYTHING that will get me caught in someone's spam filter. Gifs, images, links, etc. are all red flags, so I try to avoid them.

I didn't even think of this! Used to send Gifs years ago as an SDR and did not think of the spam flag. Thanks!

You can also create your own GIF. I've used this for cold outreach with some success to show a very brief "demo" to garner some attention.

Look I don't even use my full signature with photo if it's the first outreach. I don't want to be in the junk folder.

I sell to a very technical DevOps/engineering audience and the GIFs and memes they post on LI aren't funny to me. So my take is they wouldn't find my humor funny and make me seem even more salesy.

I sell to sales people and gifs work really well. I use gifs from schitts creek throughout my cadence. Here's one: https://shortyawards.com/12th/schitts-creek-2

I get a lot of responses from prospects with 'I dont usually respond to these, but your emails are hilarious' and it usually has a GIF or meme in it (and a funny subject line). I find a way to make it relevant in the email also. It's a great way to break up the monotony of the cold emails.
I actually had the highest performing outreach sequence in the company and it was with memes and gifs

If I used gifs, it's almost never the first email I've sent them. Yeah they can be funny, but don't have a purpose or lead to engagement usually.

For me, GIFs work. Maybe a millennial mindset, but if your tool is visual, definitely catches attention more than a video link or pdf or anything extra that they have to do in that email. Ofcourse I ensure there are no other links in the email.

I've found good success with using gifs in the 'breakup' email. More often than not they'll reply and a meeting is booked. It is important to note to warm up the conversation though so it isn't flagged as spam.
