Gifts from customers.

Just a curiosity post really, have any of your savages received gifts from your customers? Like appreciation or end of year gifts?

Just had a car sales person basically ask for a bottle of whiskey (and tbf he's doing me a favour so I'll probably get him one).

Personally, in my previous job I quite often got gifts from clients including a cashmere neck scarf, a parka jacket, a huge chocolate hamper and a Palace Skateboards cap amongst other things.

What's the best gift you've received from a client.

I’ve been gifted iPads, gift cards, and some Tumi luggage. Wasn’t supposed to accept any of it but fuck the man.

I’ve given bottles of alcohol if they like that stuff. I also have my baker wife make cookies

It can be slightly uncomfortable I guess but I was in an industry which had relationships like that and you always knew there were no strings attached with the gifts. I agree it's something to be careful with otherwise

following up, the worst gift i've gotten is the dreaded "you're a great salesperson we just can't move forward with this project"...

I've gotten some pretty solid testimonials and a few heartfelt thank you's (when I was in SMB), but that's about it.

I'll just take the signature and the commish.

Have got some hats, a carhart jacket (great in the winter) and some polos from customers. Also got an SA Fishing big straw hat from a customer and is great when poolside in the sun.

So basically a bunch of clothing swag that is always nice to have.

Oh lord, here is where everyone realizes exactly how old I am, but this was SO. COOL. back in the day and I'm still astonished I was on the VIP list for this:

Invitation to first ever concert (Barenaked Ladies!) at what was then PacBell park, complete with pre-party yacht trip, a bag of goodies that included a state-of-the-art Palm Pilot preloaded with WB contact cards and a baseball jersey, photoshoot at home plate (and photo mailed to me later), and of course the concert, which only had a few thousand people, so we were allowed on the field.

More recently: giant bottles of wine from my winery customer, and a box of the best wool socks ever from Smartwool.
