Glassdoor - Employee Reviews

What are your thoughts on employee reviews and feedback on Glassdoor?

Do you take it at face value or do you feel like it often skews negative and there's an over-representation of disgruntled employees?

Do you feel like the salary information is pretty reliable?

I think you need to be cognizant of the fact comments are skewed based on people's moods at the time of posts. Look at other sites online and compare. I do think you can gain a pretty good understanding that way.

I think it's pretty relevant. I post every 6 month of my experience solid of negative.
But yea it's always good to see how disgruntled employees feel.

People are always more apt to voice complaints than satisfaction, so I do feel Glassdoor (and any review site) is always going to skew negative. I take what I read there with a grain of salt. I also take the positive reviews with a grain of salt, because it's very easy to create fake accounts and post fake reviews, or goad current employees into posting a glowing review with the promise of a gift card or something, lol. I feel the reviews that are worth considering are the ones somewhere in the middle, that point out the good and bad of the company.

Salary information on GD seems pretty reliable.

Take them with a grain of salt. The positive ones are usually forced by HR or People teams to improve ratings. The negative ones are usually a pissed off employee that was fired or is about to be fired.

Employee reviews are similar to NPS. You tend to hear more often from the promoters and the detractors. I think you should read the reviews and assess how you feel about the negative. Is it consistent, do they have the same negative feedback over a long span of time? Are the negatives things you can handle or are they deal breakers?
