Only people with bad experiences write reviews on Glassdoor, the rest are written by the HR recruiting team.

I worked for a company once where the CEO sent out a company wide email about wanting us to post a review on Glassdoor.

I mean I didn't do it but that was red flag 1 👀

I've had that happen at 2 different companies. The first one actually expected me to let HR read my review before posting until I pointed out that was probably a good way to get in hot water with glassdoor and that if they were so worried I was going to say something bad they'd be better off replacing me. I got fired 2 weeks later

Yes, that does seem insanely sketchy. I mean, for $5k though.....

I was already secretly looking for a new place to work anyways so wasn't too worried about it. Ultimately found a new company about 2 weeks after so it was pretty much like taking a vacation tbh

That's sadly pretty standard.

Agreed this is standard these days, sadly. It’s all marketing/HR BS.

Similar to this, at my old company a guy quit due to legit reasons and left a poor review on glassdoor. Cue the COO sending an email asking us all to leave "realistic reviews" to offset the new bad one.
Well the issue is that a realistic review would reflect poorly. lol.
I think maybe 3 people actually followed the request and they just ass-kissed and left 5 star reviews.

It was bullshit all the way down.

Repvue is great.  They sent me a nice lil t-shirt for reviewing my company.  Great knowing most AM's like me make a base salary that is twice as much.

Are compgauge and repvue industry-wide? I always had impression they only covered conpanies in technology related fields.

It's crazy how standard the practice is for companies to beg/demand employees write good reviews. Maybe spend less time being a dysfunctional org and seeing how to improve instead of being petty and expecting employees to say thank you after you shit on them. My first sales job literally had a budget allocated for fake review writers in South east Asia,  unsurprisingly, it was the most toxic workplace ever.

This is so true, build a better org and you dont have to worry about this shit.

It's great to ask a hiring manager how they feel about their glass door reviews- tells you there and then what their empathy levels are like

I use Glassdoor, just to read the bad reviews.

I always use Glassdoor before going on interviews to look up reviews about the company both good and bad. It can also give you suggested salaries for people in your industry.

It really only seems to be helpful with orgs of certain scale. If you're in the start-up game, probably not so much.
