Going from SDR to AE

Hey! So I did it, I made it over the mountain as an SDR and I'm moving into an AE position. For anyone who had made this transition, what are some tips or things you wish you knew before?

Congratulations! Organizing your day would be something I wish I would have been better at when I made the transition. When you are an SDR the only thing you have to worry about is cold calling and setting meetings or qualifying leads. When you transition to AE, you take on responsibilities on managing existing customers and keeping them happy, and those things can easily take over your day. Block off 1-2 hours in the morning or the afternoon for cold calling and turn your email notifications OFF. This will help you not get distracted by anything that might come up. Remember: email is a passive form of communication no matter how urgent it might seem, so the sender likely is not expecting an immediate response. If something is TRULY urgent, you can expect a phone call, which you should answer!

Thank you! That is great advice. I am so guilty of jumping everything an email comes in.ย

What tips would you give now that you've gone through this process?

- Please be careful while choosing your mentor.ย

- Have calendar placeholders to get your tasks done. Procrastination can be a real pain in the ass when workload seems to be increasing.ย

- CRM hygiene is less about them, more about yourself. Please for the love of god, have good CRM notes for yourself as you'd have to keep going back to them again and again.ย

- Record all your calls and set aside sometime to listen to them again. You'll see some obvious mistakes and you can be your own judge.ย ย
