Golfing in Sandals

Need some support from the War Room today. I've been golfing for years, and its come to my attention through numerous range sessions (and a round of my life) that I am a wayyyy better golfer in sandals. That being said - sandals aren't really cool most places.

I mean who doesn't at least deep inside themselves not want to be John Daly - https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=774367070085259. Dude rips a hole in one barefoot like its nothing.

Alright so I guess my question is this. I live in Boston, there aren't courses around here that are cool with flip flops etc. A) Does anyone live in an area where that's cool (if so I'm moving there). and B) Does anyone have footwear advice that would be closer to sandals? (I know there are footjoy and reef "golf sandals" but they're still not allowed most places).

Thanks Fam.

Ok, you've entered my dojo, few recommendations.

If you think you play better in sandals because of the free feeling of your feet, check out nobull golf shoes mesh, footjoy also makes a mesh one and true golf shoes are awesome. Obviously none of these are sandal options however it provides the free feeling you might be looking for. And Vibram five fingers made a gold shoe at one point you could wear a pair of theirs and then be set.

TYVM for these recommendations. I'm teeing off at 1:30 today for 9 (don't tell my boss) and am going to run out to the golf store on my way. LFG!

I'm late to this post, and I did NOT expect to find such well thought out and apt insight.

Hats off to you, @Justatitle

I think it's just the lack of ankle restriction. I have quite a few old sports injuries that force me to have a modified swing, so for whatever reason my feet like to be free.

Not a golfer but what about those โ€œsock shoesโ€? Just sole and soft mesh over?

Letโ€™s state the obvious here. John Daly is a freak. The reason he golfs barefoot is because he usually too drunk to put on shoes, but damnit if he canโ€™t crush the ball.

Plums! I love John Daly as much as the next guy but unless you're smoking 2 packs, drinking 18 diet cokes, and a few rums (hair of the dog) all while shooting 62... keep the dogs covered on the course.
Aside from the jokes Nike "tour" shoes I really like because they are fairly wide with a solid flat platform, or if you're looking for something more free they have the rosches or the frees. I'm kind of a nike whore though so take it with a grain of salt!

I love the nike tour shoes - i just reglued the bottoms instead of replacing lol some kid in Malaysia must of half assed it as the spike portion was starting to separate from the shoe itself but Gorilla glue did the job flawlessly.
