Gong reps posting about short stints, fuck em

Logged into LinkedIn and first post I see was from someone who rhymes with dollard talking about how they do interviews and consistent 12-16 month stints on a resume are a huge red flag. Dog, you had a cake career in a company that has huge name brand recognition and jumped for tropic, it failed and you pulled the parachute cord to go back to a reputable company. Almost no one has that luxury.

TLDR: Gong up to their usual LinkedIn bs and fuck em.

I might get downvoted but don't totally disagree with the post. It talks about people with consistent 8-16 month stints, while specifically saying one is fine. If you have multiple in a row under a year, I'd agree thats not a good sign. Sometimes, especially in the past couple years with layoffs, its not disqualifying. But some pause I think is appropriate.

I'd also argue you should just remove some to market yourself better. A lot of sales and sales interviewing is marketing yourself anyway. If a seller doesn't know how to do that, its a reason for doubt.

All that said, Gong is very annoying on linkedin.

Here is the thing man, the majority of sales people have to take on risky roles with very few panning out in order to get to the next steps of their career, companies lie constantly about demand, pipeline and countless other items which are not possible to see until you get into the role. When someone gets lucky enough, and it is luck to get into a company at the right time there is no skill involved, you can't sit there on you rose petal throne and saying "oh, 3 stints of 1.5 years, must mean you didn't do well," I hear what you are saying but man this dude is a cocky prick who is delusional IMHO.

PREACH!!
Just got RIF'd after - you guessed it - 16mos in role...so much you can't see from the outside...they straight up lied about inbounds, warm accounts, and sales cycle - claimed 3 months - but most were 12+ especially when 95% of the accounts were ICE COLD.
Don't mind being a full-cycle AE, in fact I really enjoy it, but shoot me straight and tell me that upfront AND give me ramp support as I build the damn book for you....

Iโ€™ve had a shit run last 12 months of being lied to repeatedly, and now Iโ€™m back in another long-ass job search. I know Iโ€™m a good salesperson and I have the numbers, but Iโ€™m not even getting interviews.

I think the โ€œstableโ€ SDR role is probably a fantasy at this point ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't let a company set your value or self-worth.
I've been hunting for about a month now and this last week has been extremely negative - 2 no's showed up in my email yesterday...and another no last night when I followed up. Met with a CRO last week and was told I was greenlit to next round and it's been a week of crickets...it's tough out there for sure! But we gotta keep our head up and know that there's something bigger and better waiting for us!

nope, I am as proud of my work at failed startups as I am and the ones that succeeded. not gonna take any off because they failed due to reasons outside my control as a salesperson.

Guys...he is talking about JC Pollard if you didn't get it.

He is running 'THE ONLY HOLLISTIC SALES COMMUNITY'

He hid his short stint at Tropic by just...deleting it...and filling the gap with his Holistic Sales Co "role".

Imagine being laid off 3 times in 2 years and getting flagged by good ole JC for a "short stint". He doesn't give you a chance to explain yourself, or worse, asks why you weren't "valuable enough" to keep. Would you want to work for a guy that has nearly no professional experience outside of the only company he's worked for in sales? That's not a holistic manager if you ask me.
