Good Sales training? How to be a good coach?

So im moving towards the management direction and being tasked to train the new team. Still not set in stone?

I haven't gotten a training in my life it's just my luck so I have no idea how to tackle this.

What I constructed to far is a power point presenation with what we do and the products we have, pros and cons and target customer.

Then I went over addressing how to function internally and internal processess and who to speak to and when?

Is there something I could be missing?

I'm planning to enroll in Jason Cutter's Voxxing mentorship batch once I start a good paying sales role (INR to USD conversion means 1k USD is 75K INR, which is enough to have decent life even in metro cities.)

So gotta bag a good role.

Product training should be regular & consistent and taking into account all sales teams so you are all on the same page. Ideally should also come from your product team with sales info packaged in.

I think there's a big difference you need to remember between product training & sales skills training.ย

Have you spoken to your team about areas that they're struggling with? Spend some time getting to know where they want to improve if you're stuck with where to start.

Product training should be regular & consistent and taking into account all sales teams so you are all on the same page. Ideally should also come from your product team with sales info packaged in.

Sales skills on the other hand are the soft skills that you should be more focused on for your team and what they will appreciate learning more at the end of the day. There's a lot of different methodologies out there but I'd start by finding one that suits your company and structuring sessions in line with that and breaking it down into manageable sessions (interactive workshops are best) that make the team think rather than ppt sessions.

Good luck!

Thank you for the thorough contribution.

Well they are new people and the director seems to be like me without much "training" experience he is more learn on the go.

The company is moving towards an official training direction. So i guess it's easy to cover the product part which I did. But when it came for the day to day thing I just shared my screen while on the call and was like this is what I do.

I'm certain there is a better way than "this is what I do and how I do it" because one I have a sales style and I'm sure each one has their unique way of tackling it. So how to deconstruct my daily function in a way to allow them to reconstruct it in a way for them to adapt it themselves?

Are these reps going to be handling the full sales cycle?ย

No just Account Management as in trading, buying and selling with other business partners

I believe everything you're covering is good.ย

Do that and leave them with an assignment, to write down why would each Persona buy your Product, then have them brainstorm in a group session.ย

Maybe you could ask them to see what other Personas would make a good fit and why.

Part of coaching is making them think rather than doing the thinking for them.
