Ground up territory build in tech...I want to hear your tried and true success methods.

Alright, I'm a sales veteran. I've done everything from door2door to large enterprise tech sales. Get me a meeting and my close ratios are pretty stellar, as is my relationship building. All of that said, I've lost my edge when it comes to breaking into new accounts, somehow. My cold calling skills are rusty AF, etc.

I'm building a territory for a company that has not had any significant presence in my region. There aren't any real partnerships to speak of. The culture here is about as passive aggressive as it gets and everybody thinks they're smarter than the next person.

I want to hear some of the badasses on this site talk about their multi-pronged approaches to breaking a new territory, with a new company, wide the fuck open.

I've been around a long time...all that has taught me is I still need to learn, grow, and ask for help whenever possible.

The secret to my success is volunteerism. I volunteered for a Tech Non-profit for many years and parlayed that into a LOT of business. If you're a relationship builder I'm sure you'd find some success in it as well.ย

Cool! Iโ€™m working on a new Tech Council for my local community and it has put in my front of ALL the Fortune-Listed companies in my area. Super impactful to growing my network.

Look at the other territories that are doing well, and the types of customers that your company is having success with in those territories. Work to try and repeat that in yours and expand upon it.

Done and done.ย ย

I think there are so many factors that make each patch so different, but I do think you can take a baseline strategy and make it fit your exact scenario.

Thanks for the reply!

How do you keep yourself motivated under pressure? Yes, I've heard of the usual responses like "finding your why" & "aligning yourself", etc. But I just want to get to the meat of the solution. Are there any specific tactics you guys use to keep yourselves motivated?
