Habits... good or bad...

What habits should a great sales rep practice and why?

Can go from not giving a crap about anything, to being a person obsessed with detail.

Out of the office and at the office.

How, what and why?

My habits are likely to be largely different from those that will help you, but here is a universal one: time block your day, hour-by-hour, to have a methodical approach to the tasks and activities you need to complete daily.

I run RevOps at my company, which means I wear 4 hats. If I just left the day up to chance I'd rarely get all of the things done that fall on my plate. I have awful habits like getting sucked down a youtube rabbit hole when a coworker sends a video or hanging up from a call and opening IG for 20 minutes.

Something I've also been trying lately is the Pomodoro Method. 45 minutes of focused work is your "on period", followed by 15 minutes off to do whatever you want. This, combined with a good house music channel on Spotify, keeps me zoned in.

How do you do this method with internal calls?

If youโ€™re referring to being available - marking each block as free or busy. If you mean otherwise, just plan around the necessary internal calls

Habits help you to be more successful. Some people can succeed without them but most cannot. Develop good habits that prepare you for work, keep you healthy, fuel your soul & make good use of your time. Itโ€™s the most limited resource you have. At work, I have a routine. Coffee, emails, phones. Lunch. Phones, prep for next day. I stick to it religiously and it allows me to meet my goals.

I think the best habits are the ones that can get you into a mindset of a closer. Get in the habit of automating your life to the point where you don't worry about making your bed, cooking dinner, prospecting. Make a routine and stick to it, adjust if needed, but once you find a groove, life gets easier.ย

Sellers should always attempt to do research about clients they are talking to. Understand the space, understand the impact what your selling does there, etc. There is too much spray and pray. The reason, a lot of times, a sales doesn't happen is that a seller has no idea how to apply their solution to a customer.
