Has anyone had experience with short-term consulting opportunities with expert network companies like AlphaSights / GLG on the side of full-time job? Seems like low lift / low time investment, and chance to make another $10k+ over the year

Iโ€™ve done GLG a few times. More opportunities fell through than actually landed. It might be because my industry is more niche. Very minimal effort tho.

I haven't yet engaged with GLG, but they keep reaching out. I have not had the time to fully dig in. It does sound intriguing.

Yes, it isnโ€™t that consistent. Just something every now and then

So much fun stuff to say about these geezers..... So I used to be high up in the decision-making tree at my former company (humble brag), So both AS and GLG reach out to me quite often; Alpha Insights is the only one who ever follows through with honest conversations with investors and analysts. over the summer, I made $600 for 3 hours of work, but its incredible peaks and valleys; you won't hear from them for a while and then there will be a sudden burst of interest. GLG in my opinion wants your details, they will never give you a proper gig.

I had just one gig with GLG, here`s how it went:

I got a message on LinkedIn from one of their "Client Solutions Associates", which read a bit vague so I ignored it for some time. A month later, I got another message from them, from a different person. Since I was a bit more free this time around, I did a quick research about GLG, confirmed they are legit, and replied back to the message.

They asked me to jump on a quick call on which they would qualify if I was a match for an informative call a client of theirs is looking to get with someone who`s had the experience I`ve had in a specific region ( UAE & Saudi Arabia).

This quick call with GLG went well, 5 minutes chat, they asked me about my hourly rate, i went with $250, she suggested we can get $300. Before the call, i was required to register a profile with them, not that much of a hustle, finished that in maybe 10-15 minutes.

A couple of days after this prep-call with GLG, they got back to me saying their client wants to talk, we booked an hour with the possibility for the call to be extended to 90 minutes.

Before this call, I was required to go through a short compliance "training", they want to make sure that you're not spilling any confidential info on those calls, anything covered by an NDA with your current or previous employers etc.. i was done with this n 10 minutes, not a big deal.

The call with their client went well and was extended for 90 minutes as they were keen on picking my brain a bit more on the topics of market situation, vendor landscape etc, so i got compensated with $450 for my time.

Money hit the bank in about 15-20 days after the call.

While it`s been a sweet gig, and really not too much of a hustle for me ( no need for prep before the call with the clients, they will actually advise you not to prep), I haven`t heard from them since (this was like 5 months ago).

If I had a bit more time no, I`d maybe invest in beefing up my profile with GLG and other networks like this, and maybe make myself a bit more available and visible, so I get assigned to projects a bit more often. This will have to wait though, you know, it`s Q4! :)

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
GLG reaches out to me all the time for those consulting gigs. I have responded to a few by filling out their questionnaire. I never get a call from them afterward though. I'm starting to lose interest in them.

I'm on GLG and Guidepoint. Guiepoint has never materialized but GLG has.

As others mention, they just pop up sporadically and most don't materialize.

However, it is still worth it as the ones that materialized turned into $750-$800 for around 3-4 hours. Been on GLG for about 3 months.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.

Whatโ€™s the best companies to reach out to for SDR / BDR roles for a career changer looking for solid base comp and decent OTE (financial advisor made 120k last year 3 years hit quota every year cold calling running the sales process so I think I have relevant AE skills but I get taking a step down since I have no SAAS sales skills. (However I have 1.5 years of IT recruiting experience where I also crushed quota and learned a bit about IT broadly) Thanks

Has massive growth ever led to mental breakdown? I have been hustling since 17 years old chasing to strive for success doing odd jobs and unintentionally ended up with Edtech K12 Sales as my first official sales job - A toxic culture with no employee respect eventually me to switch after 18 months. Since reps in Edtech are highly valued, had no option but to continue in Edtech sales. This time it was higher education segment, things looked good in the first few month but slowly it started adapting methodologies like the old Edtech since the management was changed. I decided to move out and switch to B2B SaaS. After 13 months of learning & success, my aspirations werenโ€™t matching with the growth vision shared by my manager and ended up being desperate to switch. Got to a AM-Inside Sales role with a 50% hike. Guess what? It led to my mental break down since the culture is pathetic. In entire journey, all challenges never affected my performance but l am losing the spark to glow and hustle eventually. While I plan to switch, a token of guilt is still alive. The experiences have made me far better and strong as a BDR but blank about the next steps in my career. Thanks for reading. Do share your thoughts.
