Has anyone used a resume writer/editor?

Was it worth it, or a waste of money? Why or why not?

TAKE HIM UP ON THE OFFER.

And remove identifying info, like company name, your name, etc.

Braintank, would you be willing to help me out with a resume? My boss just told me the owners are going to give me final notice for taking too many sick days this year and Iโ€™m putting myself back on the market!

@youngsmoky upload it to this post as an image (redact your personal info) or start another thread asking for feedback. You'll get lots of input!

yes, it was a waste. Too many online resources to have to spend the money.

Agreed! There's so many templates & blogs out there on how to put together a solid resume. I'm all for putting it together myself & then sending over to colleagues/ friends to look over

This. Polish it and send it around to friends and family to tighten it up. Done.

I have and felt that it was a waste of money. The guy I used was a highly rated one on Fiverr with a ivy league in his title - He was fine at responding, etc. but the outcome was a cookie cutter resume that seemed to go through a template he used and didn't seem to have any actual personality to it. Now I've been using my own writing + ChatGPT for professional lingo and summarizing where I'm not so efficient. I'd recommend that and also utilizing outreach via LinkedIn before spending the money on a resume writer.

Yeah, but it's not as good as if you do it yourself!

i am normally against paying someone to write your resume.......until i see ppls resume and i realize how terrible some are haha.

if your willing to do the work, there are a TON of resources online that you can review and compile to make a solid resume.

Instead of posting an entire resume on here i would suggest posting sections of it at a time so its more focused.

I used TopResume and was very pleased! Well worth the money in my opinion. They added a lot of content, honed in on my skills that set me apart, and had it done within 24 hours. They offer free assistance but I used a paid service. They also revamped my LinkedIn page for cohesiveness. Check out their site:

I have had recruiters that Iโ€™ve worked with take care of that. They know the buzz words and numbers needed for specific roles they are looking to fill. If itโ€™s industry based, then you are set.
