Have you ever been the reason for a company-wide email?

I'm curious and I want to hear your stories. Have you been the reason for a company-wide email?

Not necessarily misconduct, but a little mistake you made that caused someone to warn the rest of the org or your team so they don't make the same one?

Happened to me this week lol

Yes...hahaha

Back in 2010, the rise of meme culture was upon us...and slack didn't exist yet (we used AIM as our inter-office chat). I responded to a company-wide email with a meme that offended 3 of our developers in a way I never would have known I could...but triggering has been around since the BC-era.

So, a company-wide email went out with a new mandate: no more memes in public or private channels.

Yeah...I played with fire when I invited @paddyย over for some lunch hour fun and accidentally scarred some lil bitch interns and human resource admins for life when they heard all the commotion. I really should have used a silencer. You live, you learn.

Yes, but in a good way. I educated some in my office that if you just send an company wide email with the distro in bcc, reply all DOESNT FUCKING WORK.ย  Whole company was notified of this finding because reply all offenders would continually clog inboxes with worthless 'Happy Birthdays' and other bullshit unworthy of touching my inbox.ย

Unless Iโ€™m wrong- the ignore button only works after the thread has started, right? Which means if youโ€™re in a meeting and the reply allโ€™s start getting thrown around youโ€™re fucked.

Yes. I crashed a company car, in spectacular style. The location and circumstances wereโ€ฆ indelicate. It cost the company a significant quantity of currency. I was released from employment a few days later after they had time to determine my future. But because I was a profitable asset, I was rehired the following year.

omg ๐Ÿ˜ณ hopefully it was at least anonymous haha. We send out company win emails when someone closes a deal (our deals are few and far between as they are pretty long sales cycles) so thatโ€™s about it for company wide emails for me.

As a company that dogfoods its own product, we regularly get developers who use the @ all command to signify everyone on the current project/issue without them realising it ping everyone on the instance (the whole company) so suddenly everyone is looking at a technical milestone with code and no one knows why ๐Ÿ™Š

Oh of course I have - but not for what you would think. ย I took a day of PTO because I had a long appointment at the VA - then HR caught me answering emails (they were copied in a discussion about a new hire). I was promptly notified that if I was working at all, I didnโ€™t need to take that day as PTO. And five minutes later BOOM company wide email on the proper PTO policy ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

The Pharmaceutical company was planning a meeting at a Toronto hotel, and the invitations went out across the world.. about 200 people. I replied to the organizer I had gotten food poisoning at that particular convention facility in the past. My error.... sent "Reply All" instead of just the organizer. An hour later, an email to all with a change of venue for the meeting.......... oops!
