Totally. I wouldn't lie for the very same reason.
Not once have I ever lied to close a deal. I value my reputation way too much to even want to mess that up.
I find my accounts are really appreciative when I tell them our system doesn’t have that one feature. Or doesn’t quite do what they want. Yes at times you lose the deal, but it keeps you from getting a chargeback or having to deal with a pissed off customer.

Yes I've observed that too. I simply say that I've written your feedback down about the ask. I will see what I can do but right now we don't have it

I guess it depends on the type of lie. I have never done it but I could see a lie ending up as the reason they buy today vs next month. For example 'this deal ends today' or something like that.
