Have you ever sold a product to a client while representing one organization and then switched jobs and had to sell a different product to the same client again?

How did it work out? Does it help or does it work against you?

Yes I have. Had a very good rapport with the decision maker. The second sale was not as difficult as the first and was for a larger deal size. Thank god I now dont sell a product that she can use. Else, it'd be weird!

The first was a hospital management solution and the second was a CRM for an arts college she ran.

I have done this quite a lot actually. I started out in media/advertising sales and it was really common as we were all going after the same people.

I always found it worked well and whether I was at a superior or inferior publication, I could normally manage to get some of their marketing budget by adjusting the story

That's awesome. I know of some people for whom this has backfired but it could be an industry case

Oh, I’d imagine it’s very industry dependent.

if you sold someone the exact same thing, then call back and try to bestow the virtues of something else; that would be tough

Exactly. No idea what kind of implications it would have

Totally helps as long as they liked you and you did a good job the first go round!
