Have you given a BDR a spiff and If yes for what and how much?

My BDR (brand new to sales) schedules 1-5 meetings a week.We meet weekly and I continue to train and guide her.

I was thinking to pay $50 for 5 meetings booked for the week but if she books 10 then $125 for the week.

For deals I win possibly pay $250 for 50k arr and 500 for 100k arr

You're not supposed to tip out the BDR like he or she is a hostess at a restaurant.

That said, I've given gifts to my BDRs when we've had great results together. A gift card or bonus from an AE is a great way to reward great performance.

sounds like something the company is supposed to be doing and not your responsibility.

with that said, back when I was an SDR I would have AE's throw me an amazon gift card from time to time for really good meetings with strong potential. Never hurts to show them some appreciation for the hard work they do. I wouldn't make it a regular thing though personally.

sounds great! But dont ever pay out of your own pocket! make the company do that! this is not your business.

I like the results oriented approach, and not activity based. i feel like thats a common mistake.

do you have a "key account list"?

There could be a spiff around setting meetings with specific accounts.

This definitely seems like something that should fall on the shoulders of the company...

What's their comp structure?

I always ask the comp structure for the people with whom I work - BDR and SC. It helps if you know how they are measured, so you can help them attain their numbers too.

The most I've done is buy a guy lunch when he went above and beyond. I agree it's the company's job to fairly compensate their teams.

I'm behind the idea that the company should be recompensating her for her bookings met, maybe it should be brought up with your manager?

i get the "company should do this" answers but if i have an SDR that goes above and beyond and i work cloesly with them i'll usually work a side deal out on a deal closed (i avoid spiffing meetings, that means 0 to me unless it closes) -- i'll usually do a gift card to the airline of their choice so they can use it to travel, universal gift, just as good as cash to most. offered $500 for any deal they source over 100k, $250 for 50k and above and if it's less than 50k i'll usually give them a shout out on slack :)

How are you going to make sure the meetings are actually qualified?

Wouldn’t really put it into a structure like that, where x amount of meetings gives y amount of money… ends up coming across as too transactional even if its a nice gesture.

Definitely think the occasional “hey lunch or coffee on me today appreciate allt he hard work you’ve been doing” is both much cheaper for you and comes across as more authentically appreciative.

This should be handled by BDR management. If BDRs do not currently receive spiffs you should float the idea.

Is that for outbound, what about inbound?

SDR Team Lead Pay?

Question

If you join a SaaS company and thrive at the beginning due to inbound leads and good SDR and then sales start going down due to a change of SDR and less inbounds, does that mean you’re not a competent sales person or does it mean it’s time to move on to another company?

BDR to AE to SDR, but at a pay bump... dumb idea?
