Having trouble finding entry level SaaS jobs

Hey everyone, first post here. I'm almost at my wit's end and figured this might be a good place to come for help/advice.

I was laid off from the mortgage industry earlier this year and have been searching for a good landing spot ever since. Decided it was a good opportunity to make the switch to tech. I've been in sales for the past 8 years, first with cell phones and then with mortgages, and have even done some sales management, so I figured that I'd be able to use my experience to learn the ropes at the SDR/BDR level.

Unfortunately, I'm getting rejection email after rejection email for my applications and I'm not sure what the issue is. I have a shiny new, professionally written resume that should be optimized for ATS, but I'm getting rejected even for entry level positions that require no experience. Does anyone have any advice? Is this just how the industry is?

Sorry to hear you were laid off.

Have you given Aspireship a try? That along with Tech Sales U, you'll be introduced to companies looking for entry level saas AEs and SDRs.

Two initial takes:
1) Can you upload an anonymous version of your resume.

2) you're applying for jobs you're overqualified for.

I’m pretty much brand new to the Bravado platform, where would I upload an anonymous version of my resume? To my profile, you mean?

No, just remove any personally identifiable info, save as an image, then attach as a photo to post.

After seeing the resume, do you still think I’m applying for jobs I’m overqualified for? Should I be looking at AE jobs?

Yes. You also need to tweak your resume to be more numbers focused and remove the flowery language.

Please follow braintank's suggestion, but also realize, the tech sector has been affected. Many companies have laid off employees or have instituted hiring freezes. This means that for every open position, there are a lot of qualified tech reps applying. That said, experienced reps are always welcome. It just may take more time and patience than this same time last year - it's not just you.

Personally, I am finding your resume to be data heavy. Too much space taken to explain what you did in the role (generic). I would focus more on what I achieved as number talks than words; I would highlight all the achievements, growth etc. These are my perspective:)

Agreed. It's very wordy. Heavy on job descriptions with not enough emphasis given to achievements, accomplishments, and metrics.

More bullet points, less paragraphs

Clearly good experience but not very digestible

Hey! I am so so sorry this has happened to you. One quick suggestion is - I heard TechSalesU can be a really good kickstarter if you are looking to get your game up.

Also, sometimes cold DMing the hiring manager also helps. You can sell 'yourself' in that DM quite efficiently, and let them know why you are keen on working with them.

let us know how it goes, btw. keep us posted. All the best.

If you want to post the new version of your resume once you’re done tweaking it, I know you’ll get more insight.

Network, network, network. The majority of roles I've gotten in my career have been through contacts I knew.
