Health hacks - [MEGATHREAD]

Hi generals!

You cannot enjoy the fruits of your labour without your health. In the past 3 months I've fought some very strong internal battles that were messing with my gut and overall energy towards life. I discovered a couple of things (maybe not discovered) that truly helped me overcome the strongest parts (2 month + diarrhea, depression, fatigue, anxiety and stress).

Some of those things were:

  1. Turmeric and black pepper - drink them in a tea and add them to your food, game changers!
  2. Honey - real honey - the medicinal properties of honey are incredible - its the closest liquid compound on our earth to our blood - add it to your diet.
  3. Water - we are 72% water - drink clean water and drink plenty of it.
  4. Acupuncture and cupping therapies (coffee enemas as well).
  5. Daily exercise, even if you feel sluggish - just do it!
  6. MAKE YOUR FOOD YOUR MEDICINE, or medicine will be your food.
  7. Eliminate sugars, sodas, empty carbs.
  8. Oil is good, just not canola or vegetable - go for olive or avocado or coconut oil - forreal - just do it - your stomach will appreciate it.
  9. Do things you truly enjoy - uplift your soul.
  10. Breathe with consciousness.
  11. Be grateful.
  12. Enjoy the randomness and let go of your desire for control.
  13. Be nice to yourself.

Please share your health hacks below! What do you do to revitalize yourself?

Hope this helps someone!

Here are my 2 cents on staying healthy some are eating habits others are perspective or posture tips.

1. No added salt, I get it only from natural sources.

2. Water is key, I drink 2 liters a day!ย

3. Stretch every once in a while, I take a small five min walk after every 10 calls, which makes wonders to your lower back!ย

4. Lookup for a sleeping position guide. I used to have back problems, watched two videos on YouTube, and found the right position to sleep for my body and my pain. Itโ€™s gone.ย

5. Enjoy life, every moment, you donโ€™t have to go to Hawaii for a weekend with bravado points to achieve it. You can eat an apple and enjoy that way more. Itโ€™s all about perspective.ย

6. Donโ€™t dream, set goals. Dreams are nice but unachievable, goals have a step-by-step progress until you succeed!

7. When you are sitting down on the computer all day, buy some blue light protecting glasses so you donโ€™t hurt your eyesight.ย

8. Make sure you have the right posture for work, you should be looking straight at the monitor or screen, no crouching, if the desk is too low, lower your chair, stack books under the computer or buy a stand for it.

Be healthy in a selfish way. This means take care of yourself first, so that you can be strong and care for those around you too.

Kinda like when there's an emergency in the airplane and you have to put your own mask on before you help others with theirs.

I drink apple cider vinegar in a glass of water every day...about a tablespoon. Yes, it's disgusting and the worst part of my morning is standing there drinking a hell drink at 8 am contemplating my life but it absolutely is worth the benefits (especially for ladies...it's almost completely eliminated my period cramps.)

Cutting out carbs and refined sugar is magic...tough but magic. Try a lettuce wrap instead of a bun or fruit instead of a pastry for dessert even once in a while.

Disconnecting from screens before bedtime - TV, laptop, phone...turn them all off an hour before you plan to sleep and meditate/write/read a paper book instead. Your sleep quality will improve vastly.

Cutting down on alcohol intake. I think all of us enjoy a drink, being in sales but alcohol is seriously unhealthy in every way possible.ย

Not medical advice but here's my take:

1. Eat at times - respect those hours. Never skip lunch.ย
2. Stay hydrated.
3. Sleep - check what works best for you: 6, 7, 8 hours, just make sure you rest.
4. Exercise - no need to run a triathlon, just move.ย
5. Active pausing is a huge plus when stressed.
6. Excess is the problem, even with water. Make sure you don't overdose on sugar, salt, etc.

The health hack to take care of your health is to do a sport that you really like, you will not feel that you are exercising and your body will appreciate it

1) Limit sugar
2) Limit caffeine (I do a cup in the morning around 6:30 and a mid morning around 10 then a cup of tea at 2pm to wrap up the day)
3) Proteins (love German so that's a lot of pork but plant based is best)
4) Water (duh)
5) Plenty of rest. Hustle culture doesn't allow for it but you won't be half as effective after long. I typically need about 7.5-8 hours a night and then forgo caffeine on the weekends but sub it in with a 1-2 hour nap around 2pm.

Breathing properly when anxious or stressed is key - putting one hand on your chest and one on your stomach and associate the breathing with actually feeling it calms you down.

Also, when anxious or depressed or angry the best trick even during internal meetings when you feel like bursting out and being at risk of saying the wrong things is to put yourself in your safe space. As an example, if you get asked a difficult question or a provoking question - say, 'That's something I will have to get back to you on and reflect properly to answer'. Just not opening up and proactively guarding yourself in a professional way will work wonders.ย

As well as this, when it comes to the mental health side of things, you should ask someone at the company to use a partnership scheme in which they pay for a company that offers therapy and guidance anonymously.ย

When working from home or just sitting at a desk in general, focussing on a screen or multiple screens can really damage your eyes. Something to help with this is, every 20 minutes, look away and focus on something that is 20 feet away to help adjust your eyes otherwise it can cause damage without knowing!ย

Just to add to that, add some sort of struggle in your life. Run 2 miles, climb a mountain, idk, just suffer. Without it there's no growth.

Tumeric is great for inflammation related issues. You can generally get this by having a couple of curries a week or adding to your coffee or shake.
