Help! Building a Comp Plan

For those of you that have followed some of my posts, you know that I started a distributorship recently. As this is my first real side business with employee's I want to get creative on how I will structure the comp plan's for my reps.

That said I do not have the finances at the moment for a base salary. I make a 30% commission on the sale as the distributor owner and have thought of some interesting ways to get some buy in from prospective new hires but want to hear from the community what would interest you!

  • Note, the industry standard for this product set is 10-12%

My Thoughts:

13-14% commission with a 10k vested bonus if targets are met every quarter for 4 quarters and 20k if you hit all 4 quarters (effectively a 60k salary)

10-12% commission with 10k bonus per month on stretch goals being achieved 5k for OTE

Looking forward to seeing what the community has to say!

Thanks

This sounds solid in my opinion. This isn’t my field so I don’t know how easy or tough it’s to hit the desired quota, but the numbers look good and achievable for sure!

I’d consider this a fair deal! I am eager to see what the most experienced war room leaders have to say though…

Anytime! I might not be the most experienced of the room, but I am relatively good with numbers and that proposal seems solid and fair.

Steel sold - incentives based on performance ARE NEAT. Consider extras based on adherence and corporate values such as teamwork and attitude. that will boost everyone's morale.

For sure, specially in sales, you want that extra motivation to land extra deals!

steel sold? is that a concept? I 100% agree with that and will use it as i grow, right now its 2 maybe 3 direct sales reps so nothing to crazy as far as teambuilding yet since we will be spread out across the state

Using gong is a great place to start. go back listen to your calls and see where you can get better, iterate and work with your manager on it
