Help: I'm Tired of Errors in Sales Quotes and Long Lead Times

So, I am currently working in the manufacturing industry as a Sales Manager. We design and produce refrigerated display counters, display cabinets, cold rooms and freezer rooms. Within our company we have different departments such as sales, engineering and production with different systems being used. A flawless flow of information between our departments is key, as I need information from other systems (such as CAD, PDM and ERP) as input for my sales quotes. For instance, I might need to retrieve pricing information from ERP and process it into my sales quote tool.

In my daily work, I struggle with spending an enormous amount of my time on manually putting this information from other systems into my quote tool. Most importantly, having to do this manually results in errors in my sales quotations and long lead times.

I'm very curious to learn about your situation. Do you experience similar problems with errors in quotes and long lead times as a result of poor system integration? And what would be the ideal solution to fix my problems?

Do you experience similar problems with errors in quotes and long lead times?

That sounds brutal. What do you sell exactly? Are you selling to the engineers?

Thanks for your reply. I've slightly adapted my message, hope it's more clear now. We designs and produce refrigerated display counters, display cabinets, cold rooms and freezer rooms.

So I don’t have this issue but is there anyway you can take your knowledge and “build a better mouse trap” - if you can hike out a better quoting tool how much time will it save you?

This sounds like a giant kick in the junk.

I put yes because I used to work at two companies with systems like this.
I LEFT FOR A GOOD REASON.

Go somewhere that will enable you to have no excuses as to why you're not performing. Go somewhere that takes away hurdles like this from their reps so they have one less thing to deal with.

Brutal, I imagine there are constant changes in supply and such that causes this to be an issue, and theres multiple tools in play too. Does this currently cause potential customers to say F it and go elsewhere because of the pricing bottleneck?

Lead times are fucking me. What used to be a dogshit lead time is now the best lead time they’ve ever heard. But then some people seem to have been asleep for two years and expect February 2020 lead times

In previous roles, I have experienced similar situations.  Currently - no.

That said, have you documented the amount of time you spend moving between the various systems to get what you need and then compared it to the ideal?  Can you produce a viable ROI for your management to invest in the ideal solution?

Unless you can do that, your management will happy with the status quo.
