Help on picking an offer!

I asked this on Reddit r/sales no response, I’ll give it a go here

I have two offers on the table and I’m having some difficulty deciding which would be better not just from dollars and cents but for my career. The OTE is identical.

Offer 1:

A recently IPO’d tech company. $250k in RSUs 4 year vest with a one year cliff. I will be the first sales hire in a new business unit and the would be potentially looking to build a team around me. The function will be primarily an overlay supporting other sales teams in their accounts but also have the ability to tackle greenfield accounts in new verticals. Company has a great reputation and culture, ~5,000 employees and growing.

Offer 2:

A Seed round start up about to close round A. They are in the same exact industry as I am now. I would be the first sales hire and would be building a team in 6 months to a year. First time founders with deep industry experience, Seed investors have solid track record. 1% Equity, same vesting as above. Handful of existing customers but I would be building all sales motions from scratch. Less than 30 employees.

Personal consideration:

- 33 years old with young family with a 3 month old and 3 year old.

- History of successful stints at start ups (including 2 unicorns), had a brief stint at Oracle

- Long term goals of Sales VP/CRO

Which is better?

Take a look closely but my experience with recently acquired or IPOd companies is they’re under pressure to scale despite market share. I’ve seen it happen at two companies I’ve been at and it leaves many reps with sad pipes

Thanks!  I hadn’t considered that angle, I think it would be less of a concern because it’s a new product and I’d be the only more specialist for the product but definitely something to consider.
