Help Selling A Brand New Industry Solution

Ok here’s the deal, the software I’m selling is ahead of it’s time and I’m having trouble getting people interested in it because they don’t understand what it is when I bring it up on cold calls/emails. Imagine getting a 50 year old male restaurant owner to sign up on Uber Eats 5 years ago - that’s the type of “ahead of it’s time” I’m talking about. What would you all do? Start by telling prospects something like “the industry is changing because now you’re able to do x with this new y!” Or act more casual about it and casually name stop the solution and assume they know what you’re talking about.

Pitch the results of what your product can do and less about functionality. A restaurant owner hearing "lets take some time so I can show you how we can increase xyz, and save you xyz" is a lot better than you talking about the cloud or some crap they don't care about.

If they don’t understand your pitch, that means it’s not simple enough. Dumb it down.

What can it do for them and WYWYN come to mind.

also with startups there are 2 options: either too early or too late. If you’re too early but can survive you’ll be in a great spot when time comes.

I actually sell cyber security solutions and having employees buy and set up their own laptops is a massive security risk and any company worth a damn would know this and provide you with one...
