Here's the thing I hate about Voicemails...

Is it just me when my favorite voicemail that I crafted last week sounds so great.... until I start cold calling & prospecting and then it's doo-doo.... Time to re-draft and refine it lol.

Is this just me, what do you think?

Am I crazy?

Shorter VMs are always the best and sometimes sounding conversational works too so I would say don’t try to sound scripted sooo sometimes you gotta throw out the scripted VM

I feel like I've always done conversational and tied it into the overall campaign messaging to loop it back in and in reverse, and for that reason I end up with the above hah... I think i'll try the short route for a while.

Voicemails have to be specific to your prospect and that specific outreach in the moment, providing relevance - ensuring that if the prospect listens, there will be a good chance they call back. Bottom line is that you can't craft the perfect VM draft because it just simply doesn't exist. Leave a voicemail that is relevant in the moment, not templated, otherwise there won't be much success in the long term if you maintain that habit.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Gotta feel it out and say what matters in that moment.

Voicemails are a fickle thing and I think the key is to point them in the direction of something.

Good, relevant message and end with "as i didn't get you, I'll try you at X time tomorrow" or "as I didn't get you, I am going to drop you an email to get the conversation started"

I don't think you're crazy. I mean we all are a little since we ARE sales folks, but I digress.

I always greet with a strong value point, then end with I will also follow up via email. So they will also have my message in writing.

Has anyone had real success leaving a VM of any kind? I just always thought of them as talk time boosters.

I think of them as a reminder to refer back to touchpoints in the past or in the future, like a call at X tomorrow. That being said, I've had some call backs in the last few weeks that went well from a VM.

I was researching the company and read a blog post on their webpage. The content actually resonated with me and I mentioned that in my voicemail. They called back because they appreciated the fact I had read it and we had a good talk around that. Nothing came of it though.

So if by real you mean they called me back out of courtesy to tell me they weren't interested then yes.
