In that case I suggest you to start randomly and skim over things that interest you. Once you get into sales full blown you can always come back for specific topics

One of us! One of us!

Like others have said, use the search bar to call up subjects that you’re curious about. Can’t find what you’re looking for with the search bar? That’s a great opportunity for you to make a post and solicit comments from others!

My only other advice about making posts is try to be as specific as you can. It’s hard to start an insightful discussion without the proper context.

Welcome to the War Room.

Learn by doing. Start a business of some sort. Even a joker one. Start selling lanyards. You'll learn more doing that then you ever will just reading. Read, try things, fail, and try again. You're at the perfect time in your life to start a business.

nice idea.. but like shouldn't a business have a lot of other things and especially an ulterior motive too.

No. Lol. If you look at most entrepreneurs you'll see that most of their first businesses were shitty nothing businesses. I know people who sold shitty knockoff headphones. Fireworks. Drugs. My favorite one from recent was shapewear, from a college guy. He never wore the product, the girls he dated never wore his product. It was strictly to make money. And he did make money. Lots of it.

Maybe you'll stumble into Facebook or maybe your business will make $1000. But I will tell you that you'll learn way more by starting a business than you will doing any job. And any entrepreneur knows this. So when you go to apply for jobs, we see drive, full sales cycle, marketing, social, thinking outside the box, thinking like an owner, etc.

Classic question. You have to change your thinking. Everyone thinks starting a company is Facebook. 99% are some pokey, same as everything else. So think about something easy, low barrier to entry, and something you know a bit about.

So take the shitty knockoff headphones idea. So a college kid wanted airpods. Couldn't afford them. So he realized they're Apple airpods, not Shure, not Sennheiser, these are mediocre at best. So he went on Alibaba found white, ear buds that were probably just as mediocre as Apple, ordered a crate of them for say 5 bucks a hit. Sold them for 50, every college kid can afford 50 bucks, 200+ is the problem. Made 10s of thousands of dollars.

Everywhere you look you need to pay attention to your thoughts on something. If you see someone with 200 dollar headphones and say wow thatd be great to have headphones that are wireless and just fit in my ears, but only cost 50 dollars. Go make that. Or remake an old product. Fuzzy dice were the rage at one point, what can I sell that everyone 16-25 will hang off their rearview. So make that.

You have to look at entrepreneurship in stages. You hear about the unicorns. You don't hear about some guy that sold a company for 50k. Then his next one for 1.3. Then his next one for 50.

50M is still a lot of money. And you can have a pretty boring company that sells for 50M.

i get it and yeah i wasn't talking about facebook or some big tech brand or other startup i was talking about simpler ideas like your airpod idea. I know 50 mil is big to tell the truth for a starter even thinking 50 mil is big and dumb but that wasn't what i was saying.

i am not a guy who can even get ideas to earn 10 from scratch idk why my brain doesn't work  like that. But on the other hand i am very hard working and talented i have way too many skills and an undying spirit so i can achieve shit but i don't know how to start. like in minecraft i can't build for shit if no one tells me anything about it but the second i get a idea from anywhere i will make something exceptional.

Yeah and when i mean exceptional i mean exceptional just not really a creative kind. One of the major reasons why i left programming even after being a prodigy in it was lack of creativity i cant make new shit i just don't know why. I can though instead talk to people have no fear of crowds or people in general or anything related nad yeah make connections

You'll do just fine copying others. Think how many plumbers are in your town? All provide more or less the same service. Plumbing hasn't really changed in 50 years. What makes one successful and others fail? Marketing(or sales), hard work, tenacity, good reputation, charisma, empathy, kindness.

You can make millions running a copy of a company, where you just work harder and sell better than the competition.

The way you get more creative, is by thinking everything is a product. When you walk around campus, look at signs, garbage bins, cobblestone paths, stamped concrete, doors, glass, computers wire, chairs, etc. All of those are products. Someone made the product.
Someone shipped the product.
Someone sold the product.
Someone installed the product. Someone maintains the product.
How much do you think the owner of the furniture company that sold all those chairs to your college makes?

The line of work I'm in, my competitors literally sell the exact same products as me. Literally, we go to the same suppliers. We win deals 100% based on solution,  trust, hard work, relationship, and price.

You don't need to be creative. Find a company you can copy and go do it better than them.

I am studying business administration with a major in foreign trade.

I don't exactly have a part time gig though I manage and maintain the social media and core working of a local eSports team and at times also playing for their roaster...

That's an interesting experience - is there anything you can learn from the management of that team?

Let you shadow, "intern"?

I have learnt quite a lot to say the least... I have become much more better at making connections, i have learnt how to use and gain more out of social media. I also learnt how to maintain and develop a team.

I didn't understand the last part though. I interned for a national level NGO where i had to increase fund-raising and develop a much more better reddit and youtube plan for increasing our presence there.

Start connecting with people who have been doing sales for a while.  Going out for coffee always warrants great advice and good conversation about topics you're looking to focus on.

It's always good to read up on things, but I've always found it helpful to hear real stories and practices help a lot along the way.

This is one of the reasons why i wrote this thread
Are you an experienced professional maybe you and i can connect and you can maybe guide me through the basics.

I'm always happy to connect, sometimes a little more challenging when this is anonymous.

That is true....

But I don't think it should really be a major issue as you can just tell me the basics and we can continue connecting in this thread
