The trick is to look at the business model and go after the companies that already have market traction, a transparent and sensible exit strategy, and will likely be acquired while still private as opposed to looking for a big IPO.

does anybody really believe a salesperson with a strong equity package isn’t going to get canned and be forced to enter a legal battle to get what’s theirs when the time comes?

get more money. Get the ability to purchase stock at pre ipo the same way select investors do, along with the discount. That would be more equitable.
