High close rate/product market fit

What's the best way to find product market fit and make sure AEs are closing deals? I'm currently a top performing SDR and have been asked to interview for an AE position but have been keeping my options open since our products don't seem to close well. Especially with the economic uncertainty moving forward the next 6-12 months, what is everyone's thoughts?

I asked about something similar a couple months back since I was curious how people did it with start ups. These were some of the comments I really liked

You can ask question during the interview like

What’s preventing a competitor from just copying your features today?

You can ask about quota % and cIose rate % for reps. Also renewal % for current customers

I would also find an existing rep in the org, to get the close rate %

Look up their case studies to hear how they help

Thanks! It’s kind of a daunting task. Repvue is the best source but I have doubts on the accuracy if I’m looking at my own company (based off my knowledge many metrics are inflated).

Yeah plus Garnter Magic Quadrant isnt always the most up to date on product fit today, which makes it tough to know before interviewing/networking with a company

Can you reach out to one of the existing AEs and ask them as well? "I'm interviewing for a role in the team, and would appreciate your insight" or something like that in your own words. I couldn't quite tell if this was an internal or external interview. If external, reach out on LI.

Ask to see their close rate from disco in their CRM and the current attainment for the team you are joining

Talking so someone there and RepVue are your best courses of action.

In addition to checking out Gartner & Forrester, I would suggest taking a look at G2Crowd and Capterra

I think my favorite question in interviews is “what makes your product a need-to-have vs a nice-to-have for your prospects?”

Take it. Don’t worry about the products. You’re not in a position to be picky as it’ll be extremely difficult to land an AE role elsewhere as an SDR.

If you want to know what it’s like on the sales team and how well the reps do, befriend a rep that is in the middle of the pack performance wise.
