Hiring Red Flags

I am not looking for a job but if someone is interested in me I always take the call....

I just had a call with recruiter that was awesome, when I asked the previous reps quota attainment she flat out stated "last year no one hit quota" the Sale manager thinks its because none of them have a consultative approach. Needless to say this is a red flag!

In one of my old jobs the manager before being hired stated "the last guy couldn't hack it". I should have caught that remark. I recall going into a prospect and before I could finish introducing myself he stated " Listen I was a former customer, your company sucks and treated us like shit. You are 10th guy to come in here in the last few years". It was at that point I knew I made huge mistake.


What are the red flags you look for when considering a new role?

I would pay attention to how buttoned up the interview process is, and not the questions asked.ย  If the process is a well oiled machine,ย  chances are the sales orgs process is going to be a well oiled machine. If the process is a shit show, chances are the sales org processes are a shit show.ย

Of course leadership thinks it is something other than their ridiculous goals. That manager can go pound sand.

Def do some homework on glassdoor, LinkedIn or here about the company. Take both positive and negative views with a grain of salt though. I've worked at places where Upper Mgmt makes everyone leave positive reviews....
