Holiday Gift - what are you sending clients?

Hey All

Looking for some ideas. Our group has outsourced gift giving to the reps this year, pretending that it adds a personal touch that a corporate wide process lacks. My opinion is they outsourced it assuming people would be too lazy to send stuff and file the reimbursement which would save them cash. :-)

I was leaning towards a local food basket type deal from Goldbelly or something similar. It would be that local, personal touch, but I am open to any better ideas.

$50-100 range.

Thanks!

A sternly worded collections letter for all the still outstanding balances so I have holiday money.

I always send hand written holiday cards. Poinsettias are pretty too.

Same. I always send a separate handwritten holiday card from me, as an individual, to everyone who bought from me that year, and I sign it [MyLastName] Family to hopefully drive home the whole "I'm a real person and not just someone who calls & emails you a lot" feeling. It's always been well received.

That would honestly be so ironically funny that it would be awesome.

I like the idea of sending them a food basket.  If the company is in a region that specializes in something (cheeses or wine, for example), maybe something regional would work as a not-so-subtle reminder of you and your company.

We have “pizza” that’s actually just dough lasagna (Chicago). I’ll do something local from here. Popcorn or some desserts I’m thinking.

For clients and referral sources, something special that only someone who knows them would buy in the $100-300 range. Like the GC I recently closed is from the DR, and my DR friends say that you always gift expensive liquor. So I’ll be sending that.

Everyone else, a handwritten card. I think my firm has a “cookie list” or some shit.

Also, I fucking hate Christmas/Whateveryourfuckingholidayis so doing this hurts my soul.

More of a Festivus gal? Airing some grievances? I get it.

I’ll probably do booze. It’s kind of my thing as my Friday post shows haha.

Not sure if there's time to pull this off, but one of those "advent calendar" style things with 24 different gifts on each day for Dec 1 -24. I've seen those with beer or wine or stuff like that.

I HATE holiday gifting to clients.  So much time/effort and planning that goes into it, and 99% of the time the shit sits on someone's desk until its time to throw it away.  Years ago, I decided I was never doing that again - and every year I take the budget we would have spent on gifting, and donate it to a charity.  Our #1 booking sales rep gets to choose the charity.

Love this idea. I don't really understand the point of giving gifts to clients, especially expensive ones. I don't need to bribe people to take my calls or work with me, and the people who expect that from me are not people I want to work with.

Instead of wasting hundreds of dollars on junk/food nobody will appreciate it's much more useful (and classy) to give that money to organizations that will truly put it to good use.

I love a good thank you holiday dinner. Booze em up and get them talking about what they want to do next year.

This is why rapport is so useful. Gotta have those small talks so you can gather intel on what the person likes to do and what to gift for the holidays to secure that renewal/sale.

Funny to see this post since i am doing end of year gift drops this week.  We usually do a chocolate or food hamper that can be shared amongst the customers staff as theres usually several people involved with what we sell.  Also we tend to avoid liquids because ill be taking a few of these hampers with me on a plane
