It reads as spam at the worst, and unprofessional at best. Work emails aren't for gossiping...

OK, imagine you're a CEO and your direct competitor keeps hitting press for growth - and you're pissed about it - then you get an email saying 'hot gossip - ยฃ22m saving for xxxxx company'' (THAT company who are doing better than you - CEO opens it - I explain how 4 years ago my company saved xxx company said figure and can he forward me to who deals with this product for him if I sent 10 like this out I typically see on responseย

valid point - I am in the UK so .....wondering if it's a culture clash here? thoughts?

Fred, i feel like this would go down even worse in the UK than it would in other countries.ย  It would sure piss me off and i know it would certainly piss off my customers.ย  Maybe dependent on industry.

I did click. But this email would be better if you actually added in some hot gossip. Irrelevant is fine.

Humor is a gateway drug.

Whatโ€™s the response rate like (good, bad and the ugly). Do you book meetings off this?

legit my best performing email - i also add something in that's really good like a stat such as ยฃ200k cost avoidance for xcompanyx - it's literally go to if i need meetings - gets opened a lot, like a lot a lot - i figured it is doin to human phycology being nosey etc - here in the uk ppl love gossip soooo

Open rates donโ€™t mean booked meetings. Is your product so terrible that you have to use a competitor just to get a click?

Tactic is to strategy as weather is to climate. IMO, I think a tactic needs to be linked back to the overarching strategy to have a deep impact.

If this was in my Outlook I would junk it immediately.ย  I clicked on this platform since I'm trying to be respectful and answer as many savages as possible.ย

Yeah, I definitely think there is a difference between the countries. My company has offices in the US, UK and Canada and all of them use different messaging. I feel like the UK has a better sense of humor but that's just pure feeling, no fact to back that up

I get into places by being 'unprofessional' - honestly, I just speak as i speak to you guys but with massive value, the hot gossip thing is always with some fucking unreal stat or case study you know? - it's odd because i see the USA as a country that would be more 'out there' - so what's' corporate' world like in the US?

i have this thing where i tie in humor with a killer statย  ย so this would read 'hot gossip: ยฃ22m saving for xxxx'' gets opened, then its down to the content of the email afte rthat - its my best performing subject line for opens and meeting bookingsย

If I open a misleading email I read the first sentence then close it, how often does this work for you?ย

Iโ€™m gonna pass on thisโ€ฆI kind of have an image to maintain with my clients. Not sure if they want bullshit thrown at them - makes it harder to have genuine connects if and when you do

Trash. My content is fire and relevant so that's why they open AND respond.ย
