Hot Knocking or Cold Calling?

I am interested in everyone's opinion on the best way to go to market.... If the two options were B2B, door to door "hot knocking" or telemarketing "cold calling"... Which do you prefer?

I see so many people marking Cold Calling.

Out of curiosity are most of you BDR/SDRs? My experience with AEs is that they don't like to make calls, so just trying to gauge the population on this.

Most AE's I know prefer Cold Calling.. may be industry related, but just seems more efficient

It may also come down to geographical location as well. I'm truly curious how it all plays a part. Maybe too many variables to tell?

I think it has more to do with Cold Calling being simply more effective (imo) and significantly less taxing. Hot knocking has its uses for sure, but are usually best used for targeted accounts.

Cold calling is scaleable in comparison to door knocking

The fact that you're asking means you're almost certainly in a different type of sales than most of the people here, I would guess. No way in hell door-to-door sales is scalable for any SaaS product...

Yeah, then most people's advice here is not going to be applicable to you, my friend.

It'd be sweet to go knock down doors in my patch but not super realistic :(

hmmm, i used to have a manager that sold physical copiers. she would pretend to be at buildings visiting people, but would go to each office asking for the IT manager- respect that ethic, i dont have the cojones

I love the DK as touch 1.  Nice little fact-finding mission, gather intel, then cold call to set the appt.

I used to do this a lot.  Use Friday to knock on doors and gather up some business cards.
