How Bad Is It Right Now For Your Company

I feel over the last quarter that each week is getting worse and worse where I work.

Morale is super low, AEs are not closing Net New, AMs have high churn and low expansion. The business hasn't had comp reviews in years for people in seat. People are finally starting to leave.

But the overall theme from leadership is: it is bad everywhere, we aren't the only ones. (Basically, where else would you go)

So I'm curious...how is your situation looking? Do you see things turning around soon? What are the overall feelings amongst the GTM org.

Thanks in advance!

What you're describing is pretty much what happened to my company a quarter before the CEO decided to layoff 40% of the company.

AEs not hitting net new quota, AMs dealing with high churn accounts demanding discounts or churning altogether.

Fwiw, you're not the only one is the boat with a gaping hole in the bottom. I don't really have any advice other than use your experience to move to a company that sells a necessity over a "nice to have".

No this is helpful. Not so much looking for advice, more curious if it truly is bad everywhere. Just hard to imagine things getting better in 12-18 months in my current situation.

(also we have laid people off twice in the past year soโ€ฆcould happen again)

European region here.

So:

-We're a nice-to-have that is ultra-priced for the market we're selling. 9 out of 10 prospects are not continuing down the funnel because they can't afford it whatever they'd get out of us.

-Our whole region (16 people) have closed 3 deals since Jan. (average sales cycle is 1 month).

-TOFU is screwed. Every week it's more difficult to find sizable companies, discos scheduled are nosediving and manny's solution is get angry and say "dunno make more calls i guess"

-Forecasts have become a bad running gag. Everyone at the company knows no one is going to close shit, so we play make-believe so the boss of the boss of my boss is happy, which makes the boss of my boss happy, which makes...

Worst thing is that it's been a typical big corpo, so upper management is full of order-takers. Now that we have a challenging situation, no one knows what to do and we're all running like chickens without heads...

This will explode sometime I guess, but gotta keep rowing!

I'm in the SMB space in fintech. A lot of self-employed tradesmen, consultants, etc. Q1 was record breaking for the US AE team (3 teams of 10 AEs). April was down $4k (12% from March numbers) but we also had 3 people leave so it wasn't that surprising I guess. My pipeline looks great for May. It's one of the reasons I wonder if I should still be thinking about leaving. Pay sucks ($50k base, $75k OTE) but it seems stable and I don't think they'll be laying anyone off (especially from the sales team) anytime soon.

I want to say okay, but very little visibility on cross org performance. And All Hands calls always make it seem like we are killing it since they just talk about top performers.

If everything that is forecast comes in, we will be in great shape. That said, it seems to be increasingly difficult to get companies to put ink to paper. Things seem to be taking just a bit longer than in the past.

I'm an optimist, though - obviously there's caution out there, but also reason to believe it will turn around.

We are in the same soup right now but I guess our AMs are not doing that bad. We have some releases with great hopes, letโ€™s see if things change in Q3/4

I'm in an established, large cap software company. Usually very conservative with hiring, they put a full stop to that last quarter.

FAANG-Tier.

Quota attainment was 60% last quarter. I suspect heads will role soon enough.

Oh itโ€™s terrible lol so much churn, customers wanting out of current contracts. Little to no expansion. On a $1.4M renewable number have about $600k in churn.

Things here ain't that bad tbh overall, except for the for pushing for targets which is way above normal, as they always have that concern about possibility of losing business even if ain't true..

In Australia here. Weโ€™re in security (hardware and software) and sales are at record levels now. Predicting some headwinds later in the year though.

Rough. My cannot afford to payout until the service is performed in some cases presses sales Iโ€™ve made 4 months ago still not payout.

Iโ€™m in cannabis though. Is it just as hard to get paid out in a fintech or software cycle?

We areโ€ฆstruggling. B2B professional services and many long-term contracts and pulling because of future uncertainty. We are a โ€œnice-to-haveโ€ until the shit hits the fan and then we are a necessity, so I have to sell out of people thinking they know much more than they do while also not bruising egos. Like every sale ever done, I suppose, haha.

I have been getting much more inventive and creative, and I may have two whales (125k, 260k ACV, respectively) this week.

Fingers crossed, savages.
