How did you bring your first account?

I'm in a new sales role in Brazil, and to grow up my name on this company, I want to bring a new account, with big numbers.


Working with FX is a new sector for me, and I will take all of your comments to bring a good partner.

After you find out who you can learn from at the company what I found to help out the most is in the following order. First, know your territory(cities, markets, etc..). Then make it a point to know all of the clients in your territory to use them as a reference(make sure they are happy campers).

Find/create a list of prospects or ideal clients that you want to obtain and compile the list to make some calls.

All of this is after training obviously, you do not need perfect product knowledge as you will continue to learn down the road, but know why your product and why you.

the rest just falls into place as long as you are consistent.

Everyone new to sales wants to hit the big score. I get it.

Sales isn't like that though. Its a series of small, consistent activities often taken over a long period of time. I have seen so many guys fired because they could not hit their quota in the first year because they were hunting whales.

Focus 80-90% of your energy on smaller, easier accounts in order to learn the business and hone your sales pitch. Dedicate 10-20% on the whale. That way you don't get fired before you land the big one.
