If you are selling in a high velocity environment (small ticket size, less sales cycle), high number of leads - semi personalized cadence might work or else not. I love personalization thought I end up spending a bit more time, success rate is better than sending non-per emails

Well, I can tell when someone sends me an automated email that’s going to 1000 other people and it gets an automatic delete and is moved to junk mail.

The second really only works if it's a commodity/highly transactional.

I don't send emails unless asked. Calls first, identify the right people and pique interest, then send emails. 

Anyone I email who is relevant I can get them on the phone quicker imho.
